Guided family tours of Florence

Private Guided Tour of Florence for the Family with Children.

To visit Florence with your children there are two solutions: get one of the many printed guidebooks, or follow a knowledgeable and friendly English-speaking tour guide! If you choose me, I will be happy to be your private guide and share with you all my knowledge and secrets to discover the beautiful Renaissance city.

A course that always adapts to the age of the youngest children to enable them to be an active and interested audience.

Discovering with your family, thanks to your English-speaking guide.

“Family discovery” is a guided tour of the historic center of Florence that aims to be a pleasant moment for the whole family, and above all to allow children and young people to approach the history of Florence in a fun way, in a relaxed atmosphere. The religious center (the entire Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore with its Baptistery and Bell Tower), as well as the political center (Piazza della Signoria and its statues), are a must on this tour, with, of course, a stop at Ponte Vecchio, the oldest and best known of the Florentine bridges. The guided tour will take you to little-known and more unusual places that only Florentines know about, such as a stop at the local bakery to taste a piece of ‘schiacciata’ (Florentine flatbread) or at an artisan’s to watch him work.

The family tour is an excellent complement to other tours that focus on a younger audience:

  • Workshop to discover ice cream: the true happiness of children (and not only!). In the best ice cream parlor in Florence, a private workshop with Ciro (or his daughter) to learn about the origin, history, and success of this Florentine dessert. It lasts about 1 hour, and the children themselves make the ice cream, than taste it! The price is 20 euros per person (from 3 adult or child participants).
  • Discovering the Accademia Museum: one of the most important museums in Florence to enjoy Michelangelo’s famous David, the emblem of the Italian Renaissance. Given the size of the museum, a 1-hour guided tour with your private tour guide is ideal to admire the Florentine masterpiece, reconstruct the stages of Michelangelo’s life, learn a little more about his bad temper and better understand the stylistic evolution of his sculptures.
  • Discovery and Tasting at the Mercato Centrale: the privileged place for Florentines to buy typical Tuscan products, taste the region’s specialties, and experience an authentic moment in the life of Florence. The Central Market is a place where food is experienced, narrated, and prepared by artisans who respect and deeply know it. It is a living space to explore Florentine gastronomic culture and Italian dishes.
  • Discovery and Palazzo Davanzati: this patrician residence built in the second half of the 14th century was transformed into the Florentine Residence Museum in 1956. Entering the palace is an opportunity to gain insight into the habits of the families of the time and the organization of the spaces of daily life. The living rooms, bedrooms, dining room, kitchen, furniture, paintings, sculptures, and utensils attempt to restore the intimacy of domestic life. A wonderful experience!
